Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a growing concern around the world and has forced health agencies to take serious action towards AMR in many diseases. It is an ability of microorganisms to develop resistance against antibiotics and other anti-microbial drugs. The molecular basis of AMR includes mutation in the nuclear material of microorganism, by acquisition of new DNA or by other means. The course explains in detail, the molecular mechanisms of antimicrobial resistance and ways to detect it through various techniques.
